Stream media to PSP via PC

I have had a psp 3000 for a while now and been used to stream music to it using RSS feeds (quite a few tutorials available if you look it up). But frankly it was quite a pain. Stumbled across this bit of software that has made life easy.

Things you will need:

1. A homebrew enabled psp (any one, with any firmware)
2. PimpStreamer available at pimpware.org
3. A wi-fi modem/router to stream your media.
4. The downside here is, in case you try to play an unsupported media format, the program will freeze and you will most probably have to restart. So all the chick-HEN enabled users, beware.
For starters, mp4 is a format which is not supported.

Procedure:

1. Connect your psp to you pc via the mini usb cable.

2. Start installing pimpstreamer. The installer is pretty straight forward, so no instructions/pics. Do note that it will also install a few files on your psp, which are completely safe.

3. Start PimpStreamer. and check the option which says framerate/2.

4. In the image above select the folder you wish to stream, in the Media Path area.

Your set-up is done.

Now disconnect your psp and start it up.

Under games, select the UMD. You will see three new icons. One purple, one corrupt and one green. Select the one in green.

Once started, its quite self explanatory. You can browse your shared folders as normal.

Do Note:
- Use X to start content. Use Triangle to exit.
- You can stream most image formats, mp3's and avi files. At least of what i have tried.
- You need to have PimpStreamer started on your PC to share your files.
- If you choose a unsupported media type, the app will hand and you will most probably have to restart. Beware chickHEN users.
For starters, mp4 is not supported.

I will post a video tutorial only if necessary. Comments are much appreciated.
